Dilution Calculator
Calculate the Dilution Required To Prepare a Working Solution of Your Antibody
The dilution calculator is a useful tool which allows you to calculate how to dilute a stock solution of antibody to a known concentration. Enter C1, C2 and V2 to calculate V1.
The Dilution Calculator Equation
The dilution calculator is based on the following equation:
Concentration(start) x Volume(start) = Concentration(final) x Volume(final)
This is the C1V1 = C2V2 equation.
An Example of a Dilution Calculation Using the Dilution Calculator
You received an antibody at a stock concentration of 10 mg/ml. You have five mice to inject with 200 Āµg per mouse. You want to inject each mouse with a 200 ĀµL injection volume. This means you will need 1,000 Āµg in 1,000 ĀµL (1 milliliter of a 1 mg/ml solution).
Using the equation C1V1 = C2V2, where C1= 10 mg/ml, C2= 1 mg/ml, V2= 1 ml and V1 is the unknown:
- Enter 10 in the Concentration (start) box and select the correct unit (mg/ml).
- Enter 1 in the Concentration (final) box and select the correct unit (mg/ml).
- Enter 1,000 in the Volume (final) box and select the correct unit (microliter).
- Press calculate.
- The answer of 100 microliter (0.1 ml) appears in the Volume (start) box.
